Loxone smart home
A Loxone system brings your lighting, blinds, heating, energy and home security together into one whole that takes care of most things on its own – without you constantly tapping away at an app.
What it is and what it does for your home
A smart home is about more than a light switch on your phone. It is about the technology in your home knowing about each other and working together: the blinds come down when strong sun shines into a room, the heating turns down when nobody is home, and when you leave, a single button switches off the lights and sets the alarm.
At the heart of a Loxone system is the Miniserver, a control unit installed in your consumer unit. It works right there in your home, so control does not depend on a cloud service and your house keeps working even if the internet goes down. User accounts and login details stay stored in the Miniserver itself.
Switches, sensors, actuators and other devices connect to the Miniserver – both wired and wirelessly. A wired setup is ideal for a new build or renovation, while wireless devices let you add features where you would rather not start cutting into walls.
For your household, that means more comfort, a better overview of your home and lower heating and electricity bills, because energy is used only when and where it is really needed.
What the system can do and what it consists of
- Miniserver – the brain of your homeA control unit in the consumer unit evaluates data from the sensors and controls all connected technology locally.
- Wired and wireless devicesDevices connect via the Loxone Tree bus or wirelessly via Loxone Air, so the system suits new builds as well as later extensions.
- LightingLighting scenes for different situations, dimming, motion-activated lights and a single button to switch off the whole house.
- Blinds and shadingBlinds and shutters respond to the position of the sun, temperature and wind – helping to keep the house cool in summer and to make use of the sun's warmth in winter.
- Heating and coolingSeparate temperature control for each room, a setback mode while you are away and a link to your heat source, for example a heat pump.
- Energy and solar PVAn overview of generation and consumption, and appliance control that makes the most of your own power from solar panels.
- Access and securityControl of gates and doors, entry devices with an intercom, integrated security functions and alerts about events in your home.
- Controls and appEveryday control stays on the wall switches; the app on your phone or tablet gives you an overview, settings and remote access.
